Did you get in on the pirate action this weekend with the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean MMO free access special? (For those of you who missed it, anyone and everyone was invited to play for free the weekend of July 23-25th! The response was huge, and more free access weekends are being planned!)

So a lot of folks got to try it, and now there are a whole passel of new pirates sailing the seas of the online game world. Maybe you’ve been raiding the seven seas for a while now, or maybe you’re a new pirate, but you need something to set yourself apart from all the other players. Something a little unique, a little exclusive…

How about a new hat?

Every so often, Disney’s code-monkeys offer up a unique piece of equipment or wardrobe accessory, and only the folks who are quick enough to grab it in time get these limited-time free items. This month, it’s a snazzy black buccaneer’s hat emblazoned with the classic Jack Rackham skull and swords.

Just log into your Pirates game, and press ‘I’ to open your Garb panel.
Click ‘redeem code’ at the bottom, and enter ‘blackhat’
The new hat is added to your inventory, yours to keep, totally free!

But the black hat is only up for grabs until August 31st. After that, you’ll have to keep an eye on the Pirates website to see what they offer next!
