The KIDS First Film Festival invites you to attend a pair of free film screenings September 11th and 12th in Santa Rosa, California.
The Facebook page for the event is a little vague, as festival pages often are, but there is contact information available so if you're interested in contacting the festival organizers for more information, it doesn't look difficult.
Near as I can tell, the big draw to lure you in are the free movies – there's a screening at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday at the Boulevard Cinemas.
The first movie is The Secret of Moonacre – it's a beautifully-made fairy tale, not unlike the Narnia movies. Based on the book 'The Little White Horse' by Elizabeth Goudge, the movie features unicorns, a magical black lion, and the story of a Moon Princess. Little girls and fans of fairy tales will just eat this up, and the producers held nothing back to make this enchanting tale come to life.
Dorme is the second film, another stunningly beautiful fantasy film, set in the land of dreams, where we all go to play while we sleep through the night. The film begins as a little boy is drifting off to sleep listening to a beautiful song, and takes flight as his dreams whisk him away.
Both movies are visually amazing, and extremely family-friendly. If you're anywhere near the Santa Rosa area on this weekend, think about bringing the kids to see these delightful fairy-tale movies. It's just the sort of thing designed to set your little ones' imaginations ablaze... and who knows what stories they'll tell?
