BNL is an alternative rock band, founded in 1988 in Scarborough, Canada. They've won two Billboard Music Awards, six Juno Awards, and a World Music Award, and they've been nominated twice for Grammy Awards. They're probably best known for hits like "One Week", "The Old Apartment", "Pinch Me", "If I Had $1000000", and "Brian Wilson". The band is also well known for their humorous style at concerts, with jovial banter between songs, as well as improvised raps or songs at their concerts.

Barenaked Ladies achieved success largely by word of mouth from their early shows. They made a demo tape that no studio wanted to buy, so they started selling the tape at their shows. Fans liked it so much, they started demanding it at stores, and the band was able to leverage their popularity into an eventual record deal.

The finally broke big in the US with their album, "Stunt", in 1998. These days they're back to releasing their music independently, on their own label, Desperation Records. You can check their music out with this free download from Amazon!
