If you've got a Facebook or Twitter account (and who doesn't, these days?) then you can sign up for a free download of a song off Pete Yorn's upcoming self-titled album! The free track is called "Precious Stone" and is one song from the new album due to hit stores on September 28.
Pete Yorn appears to be most famous for his "trilogy" of albums, musicforthemorningafter, Day I Forgot, and Nightcrawler. He's done work for soundtracks on movies, too, writing music for "Me, Myself, and Irene," as well as "Orange County," "Spider-Man," and "Shrek 2."
He's played with some great bands, too, including the Semisonic, REM, the Dave Matthews Band, and many others. Yorn lists Morrissey and the Smiths as two of his biggest influences, and he started teaching himself to play various instruments at the age of nine, so the boy has plenty of talent.
A quick search for his name on YouTube or Google will get you plenty of samples of his work to listen to, if you've never heard him before.
